About

Hi, I’m Ivan Braley, and Naturally Beautiful Days is where I keep my botanical almanac. Careful, slightly obsessive field notes about natural skincare, plant oils, gentle routines, and what a leaf, seed, or pressed flower can honestly do for skin.

Here’s the plain version of how I got here. I came to skincare sideways, through plants. I grew things, I dried them, I read old herbals for fun, and somewhere along the way I got tired of watching the word natural get printed over a marketing gesture with a botanical drawn on the label. So I started treating each plant like an ingredient: where it comes from, which fraction actually does the work, at what dose, and what tradition or research really supports versus what the bottle implies. Calendula officinalis has a long, modest, real record for soothing. A cold-pressed seed oil has a fatty-acid profile you can look up. A lot of the rest is theater.

The way I work is simple and a little tedious: one variable at a time. I introduce a single oil, extract, or routine, use it consistently for a few weeks, and watch what my skin actually does before I write a word. When something is overhyped, thin on evidence, or genuinely risky (some essential oils are), I say so. Natural is not a synonym for gentle or effective, and I’d rather be honest about a plant’s limits than sell you its legend.

Everything here is written by a real person who reads the plant before the packaging. No miracle serums, no before-and-after theater. Just measured, cited, unhurried notes. I am a careful hobbyist herbalist, not a dermatologist, and I’ll tell you when a question is really one for a professional.
